Are trucks in the “messy middle” of the electric transition?

Uncertainty lingers over how zero-emission value chains are going to work. Stewart Burnett reports back from Shell’s Ultimate Stopover event

The global commercial vehicle industry is transitioning towards a zero-emission future. On Transport Day at 2021’s COP26 conference, Canada signed an agreement aiming to achieve 35% fleet electrification by 2030, and 100% by 2040. In the EU, a 30% target has also been set for 2030 as part of the ‘Fit for 55’ plan.
