Initial production of the new crossover model will begin at St. Athan, Wales, in 2019. By Xavier Boucherat

Aston Martin has announced it will build a new factory in Wales, UK, which will produce the OEM’s all-new crossover. The new model is based on the DBX concept unveiled at the 2015 Geneva motor show. The site is a former Royal Air Force base at St. Athan in the Vale of Glamorgan, and the factory will be housed in disused hangers. Construction will begin within the next 12 months, with initial production starting in 2019, ramping up to full production in 2020. 750 people will be employed at the factory.
