Automated trucks are good for drivers, says Daimler

Martin Zeilinger of Daimler Trucks discusses the challenges ahead for the world’s largest truck OEM, and the changing role of truck drivers. By Xavier Boucherat

In 2015, Daimler Trucks’ combined sales across its five brands totalled 502,500 units, up 1.4% on 2014’s results. The figure cemented the OEM’s position as the world’s largest truck OEM – closest competitor Volvo Trucks reported consolidated deliveries of 207,475 for the same period. But staying relevant in an industry that wants to connect everything to everything is a challenge, even for a world leader.
