Autonomous identification: no red flag laws needed

The Red Flag Laws required early motorised vehicles to have a person walking ahead, waving a red flag. Is a similar beacon needed to warn road users that an autonomous vehicle is operating among them? By Megan Lampinen

As autonomous vehicles begin to arrive on the market, they will operate for some time alongside manual (human-driven) vehicles. Some industry players suggest that those in autonomous drive operation should be identified in some universal way to clearly signal there is not a human driver at the wheel.
