AVs could take 50% of light vehicle sales by 2040, says S&P

Whether through evolution or revolution, a recent report from S&P predicts growth for autonomous vehicles. The former is more likely, but the latter could mean quick adoption. By Celeste Dooley

A recent report from Standard & Poors Global Ratings aims to predict when autonomous vehicles (AVs) will arrive and to explain the important concepts involved in these developments. In the report, S&P suggests that full autonomy is still a long way off, due to the complexities of the technology and the necessary changes needed in legislation.
