Brazil’s auto sector faces long, painful road to recovery

Despite a difficult recovery ahead, there are some bright spots for the automotive industry, writes Anna Marie Baisden of BMI Research

The decision to impeach Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff brings some relief to the country as it removes the uncertainty surrounding the position of interim President Michel Temer and his administration. However, it will take a long time to address many of the economic issues that have spilled over into major industries such as the automotive sector, and as such, it is expected that any recovery of both the economy and the industry will be slow and painful.
