In an announcement that is set to save up to 49 lives, prevent up to 1,759 crashes each year, and provide net economic benefits of more than US$300m annually, the US Department of Transport’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has finalised its rule requiring electronic stability control (ESC) systems on heavy trucks and large buses.
