Can a new government help spur recovery in Brazil’s car sales?

Brazil's interim leadership needs to renew consumer confidence to slow a severe decline in vehicle sales. By Julian Semple

Brazil has a new interim President. The country’s Vice President Michel Temer took office after the Senate voted to back the impeachment trial of Dilma Rousseff, who was suspended over allegations of budget manipulation and breaches of accounting regulations. The suspension will last up to 180 days – the maximum duration of the impeachment hearings – and Rousseff is unlikely to win the trial given the Senate that will judge her.
