China is currently the world’s biggest air polluter. In 2013, the country became the first to sell more than 22 million vehicles, 17,928,900 of which were passenger cars, an increase of 15.7% over 2012. However, the Chinese government has recently announced that by the end of 2014, it plans to eliminate six million high-polluting vehicles from the country’s roads in a bid to reduce air pollution.
