COMMENT: Bosch ‘diesel rescue plan’ up against HD consumption concerns

Claims by Bosch that it has developed a NOx-cutting breakthrough on diesel technology require closer examination, writes Alan Bunting

Recent developments unveiled by Bosch (AW, May 17), promising a healthy ‘ultra-low NOx’ future for the diesel engine, deserve a closer look, especially from a truck and bus perspective. In his presentation at the company’s European press conference in Stuttgart, Bosch group Chief Executive Dr Volkmar Denner, said the “system can be upscaled for larger vehicles (than the 1.6 litre-engined VW Golf test car), notably SUVs”.
