COMMENT: A case for collaboration in the race for a driverless future?

There is a compelling case for collaboration between manufacturers to maximise the potential - and the cyber security - of the driverless car market, writes Helen Davenport

Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) look set to become part of the increasingly connected world in which we live. According to a recent study commissioned by the UK government, the global market for CAVs and associated technologies installed in those vehicles could hit £970bn (US$1,314bn) by 2035. However, whilst CAVs have the potential to bring significant social and economic benefits, by their nature they also risk creating additional opportunities for cyber attackers.
