COMMENT: Diesel emissions – time for some lateral thinking?

BY ALAN BUNTING. Legislators focusing too hard on specific individual vehicle or engine pollutant limits could lose sight of the only issue which really matters, namely the effect on air quality

Legislated pollutant emission limits are, in all parts of the world, related either to distance travelled, eg grams per kilometre, usually for lighter vehicles, or to engine output, eg grams per kilowatt (or horsepower)- hour, for trucks and buses.
