There has been plenty of talk about all-electric powertrains for heavy-duty trucks as well as, perhaps more realistically, for city buses, where zero tailpipe emissions are environmentally desirable. But before electrically-powered trucks and buses can go into serious volume production, particularly in North America and Europe, a good deal of technological detail needs to be thrashed out.
