Autonomous? Assisted? Automated? Highly automated? Self-driving? We don't know what they should be called; we don't know how to regulate them; we don't know when we're going to be able to buy them; we don't even know if anyone will really want them.
What we do know, however, is that the automotive industry, and a growing number of new, interested parties, are preparing for a future that involves autonomous cars.
