Coolant controversy resurfaces with anti-trust concerns

First safety concerns, now anti-trust objections regarding automotive refrigerant HFO-1234yf. The road towards cleaner car coolants in Europe is leaving the key players hot and bothered.

If it's not safety concerns raised by Daimler, it's suspected anti-trust behaviour from the European Commission (EC). All in all it hasn't been an easy ride for Honeywell and DuPont's new low global warming potential (GWP) automotive refrigerant HFO-1234yf. The latest obstacle to its widespread uptake comes from the EC, which has sent out a Statement of Objections to the suppliers regarding their collaboration on the refrigerant.
