The market for ride-sourcing – ride-hailing and ride-sharing services which use mobile apps to connect potential passengers with ‘gig economy’ drivers – is becoming fiercely competitive. A growing number of companies, keen to tap into this lucrative market, is exploring business models and technology investments, each with a view to becoming the most suitable provider of consumers’ future mobility needs.

Where ride-sourcing businesses were previously seen as a dynamic and modern alternative to taxis, they are now aiming to be viewed as a suitable alternative to all forms of domestic transport, and ride-sourcing forms a cornerstone of future mobility strategies.
