“Just pull in behind this parked car on the right,” Hasib Hassan, Global Product Manager of Magna Electronics, tells Automotive World during a demonstration of the supplier’s cyber security solution. The car initially begins to follow the intended steering path, but suddenly locks in a set direction, putting the vehicle on course to career into the back of a stationary vehicle. The brakes are disabled, and the accelerator is locked open. A crash is imminent.
“You’re being hacked – by me,” says Hassan. Luckily, this was just a virtual reality simulator to replicate the event of a hack whilst driving, but the dangers are clear. Hassan explains how, in partnership with Argus Security, Magna’s cyber security solution prevents this scenario from becoming a reality.
