Global markets may appear to be increasingly homogenous, but that doesn’t mean the challenge of developing vehicles for them is getting any simpler. Far from it, according to several papers presented at a conference on commercial vehicle powertrain technologies held in Gillingham (UK) by Delphi. Growing diversity of emissions standards, inconsistent fuel quality, challenging service infrastructures and increasing divergence in aftertreatment strategies were amongst the issues highlighted by leading specialists from vehicle manufacturers, oil companies, universities and consultancies gathered at the two-day event.
