The past few weeks have been peppered with electric vehicle (EV) announcements from many of the world's leading OEMs. GM has promised to introduce at least 20 new EVs in the next six years. Volkswagen Group plans to electrify its entire model portfolio by 2030 at the latest. Ford is setting up a dedicated electrification team focused on creating an products and services for pure EVs. Even EV laggards Toyota and Mazda are starting to move ahead with plans to address the notable gap in their offerings. Together with Denso they are setting up a new joint venture company to develop basic structural technologies for EVs.
