Despite Trump, US diesel trucking sector continues to clean up

A patchwork of regulations at state and federal level will significantly improve diesel technology, regardless of Trump’s position on climate change. By Xavier Boucherat

Diesel will remain a fixture of heavy duty long-haul trucking worldwide, with fully electrified solutions several generations out, but fleet operators and truck-makers will have to keep pace with a patchwork of sophisticated regulations. All major markets are now moving to clamp down on emissions from road freight, and alongside the conventional standards as defined by regulations such as Euro VI, Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) and China VI, there is additional focus on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
