Trucking is pivotal to the US economy, and by extension, so too is the fuel that keeps these vehicles on the road. Diesel has long been the industry's fuel of choice due to its inherent energy efficiency, durability, low cost and convenience, but environmental concerns have prompted growing interest in alternatives such as battery electric configurations and fuel cell technology. In some places, diesel has attracted a decidedly negative reputation.
