Driverless shuttle policy raises fresh privacy concerns

A bill that will see the deployment of driverless shuttles in California has been slammed, with concerns about the lack of data privacy restrictions. By Freddie Holmes

Recent amendments to a bill that will allow testing of autonomous data-gathering shuttles in California have not been well received by safety advocates. California-based Consumer Watchdog has argued that the vehicles in question could become ‘commercial surveillance devices,’ and is pushing for stricter data privacy requirements.
