Tokyo’s Shuto Expressway is a complex network of toll routes serving the Greater Tokyo area, famous in some circles for its history of street racing, and otherwise recognised as one of the busiest road systems in Japan. Each month, over a million drivers will navigate its 320km of steep flyovers, underground loops, sharp on-ramps and merging lanes. Even for Tokyoites, using it can be a daunting experience.
