Electric buses can help cities develop in new and better ways, as cleaner air and less disruptive noise create a healthier and calmer environment. Electrifying traffic could open opportunities to relocate bus stops indoors and bring housing into regions that were previously out of bounds due to noise and exhaust fumes. The Swedish city of Gothenburg is exploring some of these possibilities through the ElectriCity project.
