Europe needs to find a safe path to truck automation, says ACEA

The complexity of automation means that adapting today’s trucks could hold the key to safe mobility. Jack Hunsley discusses truck safety with the European Automobile Manufacturers Association

The world of heavy-duty trucking is one filled with danger and risk. In the US in 2017, for instance, data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), found that trucking fatalities had reached the highest level in 29 years. While figures in Europe are much lower, maintaining high levels of safety remains firmly at the top of many agendas within the automotive industry.
