Expect OEMs to push mobility trend in 2018

Adela Spulber, Transportation Systems Analyst at the US Center for Automotive Research, believes OEMs will lay their cards on the table in 2018

In 2016, GM announced the creation of its car-sharing platform Maven and made a US$500m investment in Lyft. That same year, Ford bought micro transit company Chariot, and BMW decided to restart its car-sharing business after it failed first time around in San Francisco. Announcements from vehicle manufacturers becoming players in the mobility space are accumulating. However, are they dedicating enough energy and resources to turn themselves into dedicated mobility companies?
