Expensive cyber attacks could put off hackers, argue experts

Experts believe that cyber security is not being tackled appropriately by the auto industry, and highlight the potential to make cyber attacks too expensive. By Freddie Holmes

Cyber security is a relatively new issue for the automotive industry, but one that has become an increasing worry for many with the development of connected and assisted driving. With its sights set on the development of systems that enable a car to drive itself, is the importance of cyber security going under the radar? “Maybe, but I don’t want to make it sound like nobody is thinking about this,” said Dave Miller, Chief Security Officer at Covisint.
