FANUC and Cisco look to safeguard production lines against failure

The robotics supplier’s collaboration with the network tech firm could see OEMs further embrace Industry 4.0 technology

The increased connectivity that Industry 4.0 will bring could greatly improve the experience of vehicle ownership. Connected cars will be able to pre-emptively identify parts that are about to fail, and organise replacements directly with a supplier. Speaking to Automotive World in October 2015, Michael Martin, VP Strategic Development Global Automotive, DHL, predicted that within the next 10 years, 30% of parts could be ordered in this way.
