FCA confirms hiring plans for Italy

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plans to take on 1,100 new workers at its plants in Italy this year; it will also make 1,500 workers at its Melfi plant permanent

Ever since the onset of the global financial crisis, retaining jobs in Italy has been a talking point on an off at FCA. What the slowdown did bring to light was the rampant overcapacity across Europe, and especially in Italy. The euro zone crisis that followed hit Italy with regard to production and sales of vehicles.
