Food waste is the new frontier of sustainable materials

An outside-the-box approach can lead to new solutions for sustainable material sourcing in car manufacturing. By Stewart Burnett

As consumers become increasingly environmentally conscious, a more comprehensive approach towards sustainability is being adopted by car manufacturers. The final product is no longer the only thing that matters—how it was made does, too. While little can be done in the short term to alleviate the ethical concerns of mining lithium and cobalt for electric vehicle (EV) batteries, one thing that manufacturers can do is invest further in the circular economy.
