Ford halts F-150 Lightning production amid EV strategy shift

Ford once championed the F-150 Lightning as a core pillar of its electric strategy, but the focus is now on hybrids and affordable EVs. By Stewart Burnett

On 30 October 2024, Ford stated it would halt production of its F-150 Lightning electric pick-up through January following waning sales and lower-than-expected segment growth. This action will commence on 15 November at its plant in Dearborn, Michigan—the model’s sole producer.
