Ford opens its horizons to an autonomous future

Ford has announced new research collaborations to drive innovation in mobility and autonomous vehicles and help solve future global transportation challenges

Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications represent one of the next major advancements in vehicle safety and efficiency. In light of the expected growth in the global car parc especially, safety benefits from connectivity are becoming increasingly important and demanded in the automotive industry.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) predicts that by 2050 there could be 2.5 billion cars on the planet. However, it is not just the number of cars predicted that is a worrying statistic, but where these cars will be concentrated, and this will likely be big cities.
