Ford scrambles to boost pick-up production

The OEM will invest US$1.3bn in its Kentucky plant to support the launch of its new Super Duty line-up

Full-size pick-ups accounted for 13% of the US car market’s 1.33 million sales in November 2015, and Ford is taking action to keep pace with demand. The OEM has announced a US$1.3bn investment in its Kentucky Truck Plant, which will be spent on the installation of a new body shop, retooling and other facility upgrades. 2,000 new jobs will be created, accounting for a quarter of the 8,500 jobs created or secured in the newly ratified UAW contract.
