The availability of advanced sensor technologies and supercomputers at relatively low costs has seen companies in and on the fringes of the automotive industry make rapid headway in developing autonomous vehicles. On-road testing is now commonplace in many areas of the world, and videos from companies such as Tesla have shown that fully autonomous driving is achievable, even in certain complex scenarios.
