From safety ratings to consumer advocacy: industry explores evolving role for NCAPs

The message from industry experts is that safety ratings, and NCAPs in particular, will continue to play a huge role in the increasingly automated transport sector, writes Megan Lampinen

Vision Zero represents the ultimate goal for road safety, and it is being tackled by numerous players from various angles. Branches of the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) around the world represent key contributors in this effort. NCAP representatives and affiliates recently convened to mark the launch of  Euro NCAP's 'Road Map 2025 - In Pursuit of Vision Zero', the programme’s priorities for the mobility revolution. The event marked an opportunity to explore NCAP's role in wider safety technology through its independent crash tests and evolving assessment protocols.
