GM expands hydrogen play with new fuel cell plant in Detroit

The news marks the latest collaboration featuring a major OEM to enable a hydrogen ecosystem within automotive. By Stewart Burnett

The automotive industry continues to explore the hydrogen ecosystem. On 24 September 2024, General Motors announced plans for a hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing plant at the old State Fairgrounds site in Detroit, Michigan. The project is still in its early stages but will be GM’s first standalone facility dedicated wholly to fuel cell production.
