Going in circles: smart parking services to cut city congestion and collisions

OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers are looking at ways to leverage data and make the parking experience more efficient. By Michael Nash

As vehicle connectivity grows, the amount of data produced by cars is rising fast. Processing and making sense of all this data poses a big challenge for the automotive industry, but identifying ways to benefit from it is even trickier.

One of the ways data can be used is to enhance the parking experience. Using cameras and sensors, vehicles can collect real-time information on parking spaces. This data can then be transmitted to a network of other vehicles, significantly reducing the time it takes for these drivers to find a place to park.
