Heavy trucks downspeeding towards greater efficiency

There are various key issues to consider when choosing a transmission for a new heavy-duty truck, but Eaton says it can ‘handpick’ the correct system for a fleet’s needs.

Regulations around fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions have had a significant bearing on the transmission, and most heavy-duty applications have moved to accommodate the trend of downspeeding. This is one of the most effective ways of making more efficient and clean trucks, but there is a challenge in maintaining an acceptable level of performance.
