Helsinki experience underlines ease of selling MaaS, says mobility alliance

It's all about the user experience; get it right, and people are happy to consider alternatives to car ownership, says Piia Karjalainen, Senior Manager at MaaS Alliance

Headquartered in Brussels, MaaS Alliance was established in 2015 by a number of founding members that included the Finnish Ministry of Transport, ERTICO-ITS Europe and FIA. Rising interest in Mobility as a Service (MaaS) has since seen the Alliance’s membership swell to over 50 members, with a number of different regional county councils or regional government representatives alongside corporate members.

Major corporate members include the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), which represents the major vehicle manufacturers in Europe, as well as IT companies, MaaS providers from Finland (MaaS Global), Belgium and Italy, transport service providers such as Hamburg Hochbahn and ATM Barcelona, as well as new mobility service providers including Uber, Via and Moovel.
