Some drivers have concerns, but dash cameras are for everyone’s benefit, says tech developer Nauto, and will remain relevant even in a driverless age. By Xavier Boucherat

Unsurprisingly, the appearance of inward-facing cameras in some truck fleets has not been met with enthusiasm from all sectors. Some long-haul truckers have taken to platforms such as YouTube to voice their concerns: as they rightly point out, sleeper cabs are a living space which, by necessity, require privacy. Furthermore, they ask if such systems could be open to abuse. Josh Giesbrecht, who under the name ‘Trucker Josh’ runs a YouTube channel with 86,693 subscribers, wonders if employers might be able to inappropriately spy on their employees.
