‘Hidden fleets’ pose a threat to businesses

Drivers who are not adequately insured for business use pose a problem for fleet operators across almost all markets worldwide, but a market especially found to suffer from this is the UK. In fact, research suggests that the UK is becoming a nation of ‘hidden business fleets.’

Drivers who are not adequately insured for business use pose a problem for fleet operators across almost all markets worldwide, but a market especially found to suffer from this is the UK. In fact, research suggests that the UK is becoming a nation of 'hidden business fleets'.

The research comes from Masternaut – a UK-based telematics company, which highlighted the grey area of employees who drive as part of their job but are uninsured for business miles. On average, these drivers clock up 4,708 uninsured business miles per year whilst driving for work. This includes both company car drivers and employees who drive their own cars on business.
