US President Donald Trump and some of his supporters in commentariat cited this as evidence of the success of his tariff policy. Some outlets reported Trump announcing a big new Honda factory would be built for this project. Jobs were returning to the US, contributing to the MAGA narrative. Except almost none of this is actually true.
