Head-up displays (HUDs) were first introduced in 1958 and until 1988 their application was limited to defence and civil aviation sectors. Today, rising per capita disposable income and safety concerns are significantly increasing the penetration of HUDs in the automotive sector. They are now used in cars to project important information such as speed, urgent warning signals and navigation directions.
