Is the industry overlooking traditional storage methods for connected car data?

Cars are now undergoing a rapid transformation, becoming information hubs on wheels that generate, store and analyse huge amounts of data due to increasing connected car applications. For this reason, many OEMs are reaching to the Cloud, a relatively new solution which enables the car to store data. But could a more traditional storage method such as local storage be just as, or more, beneficial?
