Inrix acquisition to “challenge” Apple and Google’s infotainment plans

Inrix’s acquisition of OpenCar is an ambitious move to compete against CarPlay and Android Auto, observes Freddie Holmes

Inrix has acquired Seattle-based software company OpenCar in an effort to “challenge Apple and Google in the car,” the company states. It describes the incoming company as the first open, industry friendly and end-to-end infotainment platform. Notably, it will extend Inrix’s reach into the vehicle dashboard.
