According to a recent Automotive World report by Jonathan Storey, global sales of trucks weighing over six tonnes has risen at a CAGR of 2.7% between 1996 and 2015, with expectations for 2016 hinged on continued growth in Europe.
Scania has also highlighted Europe’s truck market as an area of promise. In a recent earnings call, Henrik Henriksson, President and Chief Executive of Scania, said that order bookings for trucks in Europe had “increased compared to the previous year and reached the highest level for a first quarter since 2007.” He also touched on the challenging conditions that remain in Brazil and Russia, as both markets show “no real signs of recovery.”
