Interview: Lars Stenqvist, Chief Technology Officer, Volvo Group

The world’s second largest truck company has already invested considerable time in autonomous operations in confined areas. ‘Semi-confined’ applications represent the next step. By Xavier Boucherat

Volvo Group has cemented its position as an early adopter of autonomous technology, and demonstrations to date have already highlighted a number of potential applications, including mining, refuse collection and sugar-cane harvesting.

Lars Stenqvist is Volvo Group's Chief Technology Officer. As he explains, the group is developing a platform that will be used not only for trucks, but for all vehicles in the Volvo Group - a generic solution that can be easily adapted to different applications.
