In May 2015, Volvo Cars became the third major global automotive OEM to announce plans to invest in a vehicle manufacturing facility in the US state of South Carolina. The Berkeley County plant will be Volvo’s first US manufacturing plant, and sees the OEM join BMW and Daimler in the US state.
