Addressing media at the Geneva Motor Show 2016, Renault-Nissan Alliance Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn presented his views on a number of trends that are impacting the automotive industry. He highlighted the popularity of crossovers, referring to the new Renault Scenic that made its debut at the show and the success of the Renault Kadjar.
“The crossover segment is growing in all markets – we see it in Europe, the US and China. When segments grow the profitability is usually much better, which is good news for the industry,” he noted. Ghosn also touched on the importance of electrification, highlighting the annual sales target of 100,000 EV sales for the Alliance as “an important milestone.”
What can we expect from Renault in the future? Will crossovers and electrification meet to form a big part of the OEM’s portfolio? Michael Nash spoke to the company’s Chief Competitive Officer Thierry Bolloré to find out.
