Wolfgang Bernhard took over as head of Daimler’s Truck unit some 18 months ago. Since that time, the world’s truck industry has witnessed the arrival of Euro VI, a reinvigorated North American truck market and the apparent, albeit temporary departure of Brazil as a major growth market. India remains mired in low gear; while, notwithstanding manufacturing hitting an 18-month high in July, China too is a pale shadow of its former self in terms of truck sales. And then there’s Russia.
